Members of the Queensland ATS and AGS chapters and visitors are invited to attend our Technical Session to be held on Thursday 10th September 2015, 5.30pm for 6pm at Aurecon Brisbane Office, Level 6, 32 Turbot Street Brisbane. Due to building security, meet near the Tank Restaurant at the bottom of the building and Aurecon staff will escort you in.
There is a worldwide upsurge in tunnelling, particularly in TBM driven tunnels with segmental linings. While this technology has reached a mature phase, there remains plenty of scope for innovation to enhance the benefit while reducing cost and impacts. This presentation describes the technology and some of the geotechnical and tunnelling considerations that underpin this technique. The presentation also describes new trends in TBM tunnelling, and the innovations behind these. It then examines some specific innovations in segmental linings that might impact the industry in the coming years, and evaluates some of the barriers to their adoption.
