Our esteemed colleague, Allan McConnell from Insitu Geotech Services, is helping organise the Mine Waste & Tailings Conference in Brisbane, 13-14 July 2023. They recently announced a workshop to be held prior to the Conference:

You can attend the workshop even if you do not attend the conference. It will also be relevant to any soft and very soft soil geotechnical testing. Topics to be covered include: CPT; Medusa DMT; direct push Vane Shear Testing; and seismic profiling.

This Mine Waste and Tailings 2023 workshop is suitable for conference delegates or any others who are interested in site investigation of tailings dams.
This workshop will cover, at a “warts and all” level, the geotechnical investigation of tailings dams using up to date in situ methods. Strengths and weaknesses of the various techniques will be discussed, along with all the most recent developments.
The workshop will also include a session on determination of important materials’ geotechnical properties from the investigation works.
