Welcome to the 278th IAEG Connector, the electronic newsletter connecting environmental and engineering geologists around the world!

We congratulate the Nepalese Society of Engineering Geology for its fifth anniversary and its “First National Engineering Day Celebration”. We have a couple of photos.

Our congress in Chengdu, China is now over! It was very successful. For the next three issues of the IAEG Connector we will have more photos and a summary of the many decisions made at the congress.

There are many geodisasters happening around the world. Last week we had the huge earthquake in Afghanistan, and this week we had two more major earthquakes. Major flooding has occurred in Myanmar and Sikkim. Kilauea Volcano in Hawaii has had 32 earthquakes in the past two days! Landslides have happened in Cameroon and South Africa. This week we celebrate the 60th anniversary of one of the most amazing geodisasters in world history, the Vajont Dam disaster in Italy.
