Call for Nominations – IAEG Richard Wolters Prize

The IAEG have announced a call for nominations of the Richard Wolters Prize. This prize is awarded biannually to commemorate the life and work of Dr. Richard Wolters for his significant achievements in the advancement of engineering geology and the development of IAEG. The Prize recognises meritorious scientific achievement by a younger member of the engineering geology profession.

The candidates should be members of IAEG and less than 35 years of age on January 1st 2024.

The Nominations for the candidates should be sent to the Secretary General before June 15th, 2024, and should include the following documents:

The competition for selecting the winner will be organized by the Jury and the date will be announced in 2024.

About Richard Wolters

Richard Wolters (1921-1981), was IAEG secretary general from 1972 to 1981. His name is on a par with the names of the founders and first lAEG presidents. His work was responsible for the spectacular growth of the lAEG from 14 in 1972 to 42 in 1980. In 1974, as editor, published the 1s issue of IAEG newsletter. Awarded the Chevalier de L’Ordre National du Merite (France, 1980). He was widely respected by his professional colleagues for his personal integrity, his scientific achievements and his dedication to the advancement of engineering geology. He was honoured posthumously by award of the Hans Cloos Medal in 1982.
