1-ACEG Field Trip

Landslide prone environments on basalt terrains in the Glasshouse Mountains

This full day field trip is to the volcanic Glasshouse Mountains in the hinterland of the Sunshine Coast north of Brisbane. Coach transport, morning tea and lunch will be provided as part of the field trip fee.

The slopes of the Maleny Plateau in the Glass House Mountains are well known to be prone to landslides.  This field trip will visit several local sites to view the basaltic geology, its structure, the derived colluvial soils and the impacts of ground water outflows on ground stability.
