GFWA Prize in Geomechanics for Final Year Undergraduate Projects in Geomechanics at Universities in Western Australia
The GFWA Prize in Geomechanics is a prize sponsored by the firm GFWA Pty Ltd and awarded by the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) for the best paper presentation by a final year student in the area of Geomechanics at Universities in Western Australia.
Final year students from The University of Western Australia, Curtin University, Kalgoorlie School of Mines and Edith Cowan University are selected. On the night of the competition, each student will give a presentation of 12 minutes duration, with an additional 3 minutes for questions.
The winner is chosen on the night by a panel selected by the AGS Committee. Judging will be on the basis of the overall quality of the project and work and the standard of the presentation on the night.
This is the 21st year of the competition, and the standard of presentations in previous years has been outstanding. Please show your support for the next batch of geotechnical engineers by your attendance.
Engineers Australia members participating in AGS technical sessions can record attendance on their personal CPD logs. Members should refer to Engineers Australia CPD policy for details on CPD types, requirements and auditing guidelines.
