2024 Harry Poulos Award Ceremony
Dr. Jeff Hsi
The Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) Sydney Chapter is proud to present the 2024 Harry Poulos Award to Dr. Jeff Hsi, recognising his exceptional contributions to geotechnical engineering, particularly in soil-structure interaction (SSI) analysis and design optimisation. With over 40 years of experience, Dr. Hsi has played a pivotal role in advancing geotechnical and structural engineering practices. Currently serving as a Technical Advisor at EIC Activities, he has held key leadership roles in major infrastructure projects across 20+ countries. He has authored over 80 technical papers and was an Adjunct Professor at the University of Technology Sydney. As part of the award event, Dr. Hsi will deliver a keynote presentation on “Design optimisation and sisk management through soil-structure interaction analysis.” His talk will explore the theoretical foundations, computational methodologies and real-world applications of SSI analysis, with insights into advanced numerical modelling using tools such as PLAXIS, FLAC, RS, and Midas. He will also share case studies demonstrating how SSI principles have led to innovative design solutions, enhanced structural performance and cost savings.
