2025 International Women in Engineering Day

AGS SA/NT Chapter invites everyone to join in celebrating our inaugural International Women in Engineering Day on Thursday, 26th June at 5:30 pm at The Gallery, Adelaide.
The evening will include a number of short technical presentations by women in the Ground Engineering industry. The presentations will be followed by open networking over canapés and drinks.

This is the first time we are hosting this event in Adelaide so we would greatly appreciate your support.
About the speakers

Maria Pham Principal Geotechnical Engineer, SA Water
Dr Maria Pham is a Principal Geotechnical Engineer for SAWater. She has over 20 years of Australian research and professional consulting engineering experience. Most of her experience has been in the areas of soil mechanics and geotechnical engineering investigation, numerical analysis, design and construction supervision for a wide range of infrastructure projects. Maria has developed her skills through performing key roles on landmark projects such as Fleurieu Connection Alliance Project, Torrens to Darlington Project, Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Project, Torrens Road to Torrens River Project in South Australia and the Suburban Rail Loop Project in Victoria. From a designer perspective, Maria has sound understanding of the required geotechnical information that a designer would need to successfully deliver a project. Maria was recently awarded a ‘Fellow of Engineers Australia’

Olivia Gill Associate Geotechnical Engineer, CMW Geosciences
Olivia is a Chartered Professional Engineer (CPEng) in both NZ and AU and is currently an Associate Geotechnical Engineer / Group Functional Manager at CMW Geosciences. With 10 years’ experience in geotechnical engineering, Olivia has managed several large-scale infrastructure and commercial projects across New Zealand specialising in soft soils and ground improvement before moving to Adelaide in 2024. In her current role, she oversees key business functions including Quality, Health & Safety, IT, Training, Marketing and HR. She holds a Master of Engineering Studies and a Bachelor of Engineering from the University of Auckland and is currently completing her Executive MBA at the University of Adelaide. Olivia is actively involved in professional bodies, serving on the Engineers Australia SA Division Committee and previously contributing to the New Zealand Geotechnical Society.

Rachel Koch Civil Engineer, CPB Contractors
Rachel is a Chartered Civil Engineer who has dedicated her career working with tier-1 contractors on large public infrastructure projects. Currently Rachel is working for CPB Contractors as a Senior Project Engineer on the Tram Grade Separation Project, in the Marion Road bridge team delivering the Mike Turtur bike path. In this role, she leads the coordination of procurement, design development and site programming to enable smooth delivery of this major transport infrastructure. With over nine years of experience, Rachel has worked across the full project lifecycle—from early planning and design through to on-site delivery, for projects; Darlington Upgrade Project, Port Wakefield to Port Augusta Alliance and Fleurieu Connections Alliance. Rachel shows dedication to encouraging future generations to explore a career in STEM while also challenging those around her to achieve their highest potential.
