AGS Sydney Symposium 2016
Ground Stabilisation Techniques for
Problematic Soils & Unstable Rocks
The Sydney Chapter of the Australian Geomechanics Society (AGS) is proud to present the 20th Annual Sydney Symposium which will be held on Friday 11th November 2016.
The Symposium forms part of the continuing program of events by the Sydney Chapter of the Australian Geomechanics Society and is designed to keep the engineering profession aware of recent developments in particular to the ground stabilisation aspects of geotechnical engineering practice.
Overview of the 2016 Symposium
The 2016 AGS Symposium will present the state-of-the-art practices, innovative technologies, new research results and case histories in construction and design towards advanced stabilisation techniques, cost effective approaches and better management systems for multi-disciplinary issues.
The goal of this symposium is to provide professional engineers, researchers, specialist contractors, regulators, educators and students the opportunity to meet and share their knowledge and experiences in this area.
This symposium will bring together engineers, geologists, and researchers who are interested on new advances in ground stabilisation techniques, design, analysis, lessons learnt from major Australian projects and experiences in geotechnical aspects of ground improvement.

Prof Indraratna’s significant contributions to ground soil improvement in transport infrastructure have been acknowledged through numerous national and international awards, including the inaugural 2016 Ralph Proctor and 2017 Louis Menard Lectures by ISSMGE,, 2009 EH Davis Lecture of AGS, 2015 Thomas Telford Premium award by ICE (UK), 2014 CS Desai Medal of IACMAG, 2015 RTSA Outstanding Individual Award and 2009 Engineers Australia Transport Medal. He has secured more than $15 million research funding since 2000, and supervised more than 50 PhD graduates.
He has published 9 Books, over 280 refereed journal articles and 350 peer-reviewed conference papers, producing a total of 650+ publications. His international reputation is reflected by 45+ invited Keynote papers covering all continents and more than 20 national and international accolades. He has worked in industry in 4 continents before becoming an academic at University of Wollongong 25 years ago. He has been an Advisor and Consultant for private and government organizations in Australia, Thailand, China, India and Sri Lanka. He is a Fellow of Australian Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering.

- Promote your organisation to hundreds of senior-level decision-makers in the industry, and nearly 2500 readers of Australian Geomechanics spread throughout Australia
- Establish name and product recognition
- Demonstrate to colleagues and clients that you support the industry
Why should you be a sponsor?
- Sponsorship is a direct line to customers who may never come to you
- Sponsorship is a targeted, cost effective marketing opportunity
- Ability to meet a prospective client during the Symposium to discuss potential future business
Benefits of Sponsorship
- Acknowledgement of sponsorship in 2016 Symposium materials
- Recognition of your sponsorship at the Symposium and to members of the Australian Geomechanics Society
- Sponsorship recognition signs at venue
