Derek will present examples of railway earthwork remedial schemes undertaken in the UK. A variety of remedial schemes will be discussed including slope drainage, soil nails, gabions and slope stabilising piles.

Wayne will present his talk on Geotechnical Engineering in Rail: Complexities and Challenges. His talk will include recent advances in research, as well as examples of failures and how the rail industry assesses geotechnical risk.
