IAEG 60th Anniversary Event
Ann Williams
Join us as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of the IAEG for canapés and drinks in a unique earth science setting. The AGS Queensland Chapter will be hosting a cocktail function with an international guest speaker, Ann Williams, at Dinosaurs Unearthed, Queensland Museum. The event is a networking gathering with a short presentation (approximately 20 minutes) by Ann Williams, IAEG WEGC Chair, from NZ.
2024 marks the 60th Anniversary of the establishment of the International Association for Engineering Geology and the Environment (IAEG), an international scientific society founded in 1964 and now approximately 5000 members strong globally. The association aims to promote and encourage the advancement of engineering geology through technological activities and research. At the same time, it strives to improve teaching and training in engineering geology, and to collect, evaluate and disseminate the results of engineering geological activities.
Ann’s presentation will focus on the challenges as an engineering geologist in a developing field throughout her illustrious 30 year career. While sharing her thoughts on the present and future of engineering geology, increasing diversity and the role the IAEG will play.
