Failures provide one of the best learning tools to improve geotechnical practice. This talk will review a range of geotechnical failures and discuss the wider lessons to be learnt for everyday consulting. The examples will include large and small problems resulting from failures in design & documentation, specifications and construction.
About the speaker
Weeks White
Mr White recently retired after a professional career spanning almost 50 years. Most of that career has been working as a geotechnical and pavement engineer, including almost 20 years with Coffey Geotechnics and 10 years with AECOM. His geotechnical experience was wide-ranging but particularly included pavement subgrade improvement, foundation engineering, civil engineering materials and testing, geotechnical numerical analysis and soil variability and probability assessment. He also has wide experience in pavement design, construction and rehabilitation.
