Monitoring Equipment & Interpretation:
Theory, use & practical application in the Mining & Civil industries

This course aims to provide information on the use of geotechnical monitoring equipment in different applications to professionals working in the civil and mining industry.

Although the subject is covered during formal education, advancing technologies continue to expand the ability for monitoring systems to assist practitioners in solving real world problems. The world of monitoring offers a wealth of equipment and techniques, which increases the difficulty in matching the right tool to the right job.

This course strips the topic of monitoring equipment and interpretation back to the basics and provides:

• An overview of monitoring – how it works and why
• A range of monitoring equipment options – what to use when
• Installing and collecting data – the tips and tricks of the trade
• Application to the civil and mining industries – how it works, interpretation and success

In the world of monitoring equipment the options are endless. The monitoring equipment workshop focuses on monitoring options specific to applications commonly encountered in differing industries.

Monitoring equipment and techniques the workshop will cover include:

• Ground Radar Monitoring
• Insar Technology (Interferometric Synthetic Aperature Radar : Use of Satellite Imagery)
• The Use of Inclinometers
• Piezometer Installation and Data Interpretation
• Stress Monitoring specific to Effective Stress Measurement
• Pre-Load Monitoring

The course is set up with theoretical components as well as practical examples. Over the course of the day, the presenters will provide six separate sessions. The course will allow for recording of CPD and lecture notes will be provided for your future reference. The course will include morning tea, a standing lunch, afternoon tea and drinks.
