Social and networking evening
The SA Chapter of the AGS and the SA branch of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE) has arranged a networking evening for students and practitioners of Civil and Geotechnical Engineering.
The format for the first hour is “speed dating”, i.e. groups of students spend a short time with a series of experienced engineers. This is followed by informal discussions to follow up previous discussions, or to meet people you hadn’t talked to previously. Drinks and canapés will be served.
We need about 20 experienced engineers for this event. While some companies are represented already, all members are welcome to come along. If you can participate in the “speed dating” part of the event, please contact Richard (details in side bar). Even if you don’t like speed dating, come along and meet our future engineers, if only for the subsequent informal stage of the evening.
We are also looking for sponsors for the event, as it is quite expensive compared to standard meetings (up to 80 undergraduates are accommodated with alcoholic beverages served). If you’d like to help advertise your company with banners and other perks, such as a brief presentation at the start, please discuss this with Richard as well (details in side bar).
Companies confirmed so far include:
GHD, Arup, Golder Associates, Jacobs, WGA, DPTI, SA Water.
Students can find tickets on Eventbrite. If you’re a practicing engineer who would like to attend, contact Richard Herraman.
Engineers Australia members participating in AGS technical sessions can record attendance on their personal CPD logs. Members should refer to Engineers Australia CPD policy for details on CPD types, requirements and auditing guidelines.
