Statistical analysis of settlement of footings on Bassendean Sands using historical CPT data
Terry Waters
Cone penetrometer tests (CPT) services have been available in Perth for almost 40 years with three companies currently providing services. There have been thousands of CPTs performed on the Swan Coastal Plain over this period with many performed in Bassendean Sand. The history of CPTs and methods of settlement analysis are discussed. Using statistical analytical techniques the settlement of footings on Bassendean Sands has been assessed using cone penetrometer test (CPT) data from 30 sites. The results of this study provide a convenient tool for initial screening assessment of expected settlements of footings in Bassendean Sands.
