The G-Pile Foundation System
Dr Peter Mitchell
The G-Pile System of pile construction was developed in South-East Asia where it has been widely used. It was introduced into Australia in 1998 by the Australasian Piling Company. The G-Pile system is a hydraulic jacking pile installation that uses a patented grip (hence the name G-Pile for grip pile) to inject the pile into the ground. It has the advantages of being vibration free, very low noise, pollution free, high operational accuracy, and provides a static proof load on every pile. Dr. Mitchell outlined the piling method and discussed its application at the University of Adelaide development, the Sydney International Airport Extensions, and the multi-storey Rivergardens Condos project in Melbourne.
