About Colin Leek

Colin Leek is Project Engineer with the City of Canning.  He has had a varied career as a Lecturer in Civil Engineering at Curtin University where he lectured in transport and earthworks.  Prior to Curtin, he was employed as Principal Engineer Sustainable  Infrastructure Science with Australian Road Research Board (ARRB), but his main working life was spent as Manager of Construction Services at the City of Canning.  He has 26 years experience in Local Government Engineering, with City’s of Canning and Perth, and 11 years previous experience with Westrail, Public Works Department, and Water Authority, as an Engineer and Engineering Assistant.

During his long period with City of Canning he became known for his commitment to innovation, particularly in the areas of pavements engineering and constructed wetlands.  He has been the champion for research and development of Insitu Foamed Bitumen Stabilisation, recycled materials in road construction, as well as being recognised for his environmental awareness and assistance to community groups in constructed wetland developments.

He is actively involved in pavements research and is regarded as one of the specialist pavements Engineers in Perth.
