We have lots of geodisasters happening around the world! Major landslides on the Isle of Wight (United Kingdom), Tanzania, and Seattle, Washington are highlighted. There is a great article about Jakarta, Indonesia sinking very fast. The great news, though, comes from India where the 41 workers in the tunnel with the collapsed entrance have been recovered!

We have no new IAEG news this week (next week we will have a lot). Two major geodisasters, though, this week caused major losses of life! Landslides in a copper mine in Zambia killed at least seven miners and a volcanic eruption on Mt. Marapi killed another 11 people.

The first thing that we want to highlight is we elected two new honorary members of IAEG in Chengdu! Dr. Giorgio Lollino and Dr. Paolo Allasia of Italy were both given honorary memberships in IAEG, one of our highest honors.
