The biggest one was the large rockfall in the Tyrol part of Austria. We also had continued volcanic activity in Hawaii (Kilauea) and Antarctica. There were also some earthquakes in Japan and India. Next week we will have a summary of the mid-year board meeting from President Marinos.

The AGS has been notified that the industry giant and previous ISSMGE President, Professor Michele Jamiolkowski, passed away last week. The loss of Professor Jamiolkowski is a very sad day for the geomechanics profession, both in terms of the experience and expertise lost, as well as the unwavering advocate that we had for our industry.
