The latest issue of the IAEG Connector newsletter is available online. This week we have the announcement of a very interesting e-YEG webinar and the call for nominations for two of our AEG awards. A big event happened yesterday with the Taiwan earthquake (mag 7.2). We also notice some other events: Santorini (Greece), French Alps and Gibraltar.

The Hans Cloos medal, awarded biannually, is the senior award presented by IAEG, given to an engineering geologist of outstanding merit in commemoration of the "founder of geomechanics". The recipient should therefore be a person of international repute who has made a major contribution to engineering geology.
We have no major announcements this week for the Association, but there is lots of news from around the world geologically! We mention a landslide in Hollywood, California, USA where the movie stars live! We have a news item from Iceland about how they are fighting the lava flows with barriers and news from an African volcano.
This is a major issue of the IAEG Connector - it is the 300th issue since we started this electronic newsletter six years ago! We announce the 15th Asian Regional Conference which will be held in Bangladesh in 2025 and also the call for nominations for our major yearly awards for IAEG.
The 45th ISRM online lecture will be delivered by Dr. Jonny Rutqvist, from USA. The lecture title is: “Coupled Processes Modeling in Energy Geosciences”. It will be broadcast on March 21st at 10 A.M.
The Sydney and Newcastle Chapters of the Australian Geomechanics Society are offering the prestigious AGS NSW Research Award for research in Geotechnical Engineering or Engineering Geology. Eligible candidates are asked to submit abstracts.
This week we have a revision to the Japanese National Group special report on their recent earthquake on the Noto Peninsula. The Japanese National group had a couple of changes to their wonderful report . The deadline for abstracts for EUROENGEO2024 has been extended. We also have photos of some students in China who recently won awards! There is so much happening in IAEG!
This is a call for nominations for the position of Vice President of the Young Engineering Geologist (YEG) group of the IAEG for the 2024-2026 term of office. This is a new position, which was created by Council at their meeting in Chengdu, China in September 2023 and replaces the former position of YEG Chair.
