A modified p-y curve for the analysis of a laterally loaded pile in stiff clay

This paper describes a modified approach to construct p-y curve for the analysis of a laterally loaded pile in stiff clay. Reese et al. (1975) conducted two instrumented full scale tests in stiff clay and Broms (1998) conducted instrumented full scale tests in medium stiff clay. The results of these tests are reanalyzed and a modified method of constructing p-y curves for stiff clay is proposed. Comparison of results obtained using the proposed p-y curves with the field results shows a good agreement.
