Residential footings – Perth Metropolitan Area

This paper reviews aspects of geotechnical information relevant to the design of footings for residential buildings in the Perth region. Although sand sites predominate, there are areas where reactive clays and soft estuarine soils occur. The information is useful in contributing to an understanding of some of the more common problems which are encountered in the engineering of such footings.
