Trying to make a difference – and why sometimes we can’t

Rob Day

September 19, 2019

Engineering as a profession, particularly in the area of public infrastructure, has the power to make a huge difference to the wellbeing and happiness of millions of people. Occasionally, however, obstacles are put in our way that prevents us from achieving the best outcome for the maximum number of people with the resources we have available. Rob will share examples he has seen in a career that started back in the 1980s, where obstacles have stood in the way of making a difference. It is hoped that this may provoke discussion, and possibly help others avoid these pitfalls in the future.
